Pharmacy Technician I/II

Responsibilities


Assists the Pharmacist in the preparation of prescriptions as permitted by state law.  Maintains good customer service by accepting prescriptions or refill requests, processing sales and answering questions for customers.  Achieves customer satisfaction by promptly processing prescriptions, sales transactions, and answering questions.  Other duties include stocking and pricing over the counter (OTC) items, maintaining the OTC areas, processing clinic medication requisitions, and other duties as required by the pharmacist.

Salary Range: $ $35,240 - $47,460 (Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc.)

 

Qualifications


Education


Required: 

Pharmacy Technician I:

High School diploma or GED from an accredited program

 

Pharmacy Technician II:

High school diploma or equivalent


Preferred: N/A


Experience


Required: 

Pharmacy Technician I:

Minimum 6 months pharmacy tech experience OR previous experience as a pharmacy service representative

 

Pharmacy Technician II:

Minimum 2-4 years retail pharmacy experience 

Or

Completion of an Accredited Pharmacy Technician Program


Preferred: 

Pharmacy Technician I:

Minimum 2-4 years pharmacy tech experience OR 

Completion of an accredited pharmacy technician program

 

HMO and 3rd Party Managed Care Experience

 

Pharmacy Technician II:

HMO and 3rd Party Managed Care Experience


License(s)


Required: TSBP Registration


Preferred: PTCB Certification


Communicate

 

Required: To read merchandise labels and invoices; to ask and answer questions over the phone; to write information on prescriptions.

 

Able to communicate with customer to hand complains and problems

 

Preferred: Know when to refer questions, problems, and complaints to a pharmacist.

 

Special Skills


Required: Operate computer terminal for processing prescriptions

 

Math cash handling – able to add and subtract; able to make change; able to complete daily cash report.

 

Type 20 WPM


Preferred: 10 key by touch 


Other 


Required: Stress tolerance – to receive prescriptions and ring up sales in a fast-paced environment.

 

Physical Stamina – to work in fast paced environment, and maneuver around pharmacy.


Preferred: N/A
