Dean Medical Group infusion pharmacy team is seeking a full time pharmacy technician to staff primarily at our Sauk Prairie Clinic location. Infusion center technicians have an opportunity to develop specialized skills including sterile compounding (hazardous and non-hazardous), inventory management, and billing. This position comes with an appealing Monday through Friday clinic schedule and will require travel to other infusion locations two days weekly. This role offers a unique opportunity to independently manage operations in the Sauk Prairie clinic and develop close relationships with a dedicated team of pharmacists and technicians to compound specialty infusions and chemotherapy for patients in need.
Job Summary:
Performs all duties to insure timely and accurate delivery of infusion medications within the infusion centers. Prepares sterile compounded IV, injection, and chemotherapy products to be checked by pharmacist. Review patient schedules and inventory management of medications and supplies needed for upcoming treatments. Works under supervision of registered pharmacist.Job Responsibilities and Requirements:
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Compounds, packages, and labels medications including chemotherapy, specialty infusion medications, injections, and supportive care medications. All medication preparation is done with remote pharmacist supervision. Maintain compounding records within the EHR. Complies with all sterile compounding regulations, standards, and policies (i.e. USP 797 and 800). Maintains and manages cleanroom environment to ensure compliance with all regulations and patient safety. Performs regular cleaning of compounding area per standard operating procedures. Addresses out of range pressure, temperature, humidity of the cleanroom environment according to policy. Reviews patient schedules proactively to assess medications, fluids, and supplies needed for scheduled treatments. Independently maintains inventory and places orders as needed for necessary drugs and supplies. Insures medication inventory reduces risk for waste by checking in orders, stocking shelves, rotating stock, processing recalls and conducting quarterly inspections of all areas where drugs are stored in the pharmacy for outdated and unusable medications and quarantining them in a separate are from useable stock. Performs review of infusion visits in the EHR and completes necessary documentation including but not limited to medication waste billing, NDC and lot information for compounded products, and infusion administration coding. Communicates with pharmacists and nursing staff to insure timely closing of infusion encounters. Interacts with patients to obtain signatures or insurance information when needed for third party vendors and REMS programs. Assists pharmacist with intake and review of temperature excursions related to pharmaceuticals Follows all procedures for documenting and dispensing controlled substances. Handles controlled substances in a manner that ensures accountability and security.Works independently with off-site pharmacist supervision. Work closely with infusion center nursing staff to maintain timely delivery of medications. Work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner. Performs other duties as assigned.EDUCATION
High School diploma/GED or 10 years of work experience
