Pharmacy Technician – Inpatient

As an Inpatient Pharmacy Technician, you will play a vital link in moving medications throughout the facility to enhance patient care. You will join a team that empowers every caregiver to make valuable contributions to patient-focused care, teaching and research activities. This team embraces a positive attitude and respects and supports one another to provide the best care possible.
A caregiver in this position works Evenings, from 2:00pm—10:30am or 2:30pm—11:00pm.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Prepare medications through selecting, labeling, repacking, non-sterile compounding and sterile compounding.
Deliver medications to the appropriate storage locations in an accurate and timely manner.
Maintain accurate and appropriate inventories of medications and supplies and complete inventory audits, such as cycle counts and nursing unit inspections.
Maintain a safe and clean work area by complying with procedures, rules and regulations, and document regulatory requirements such as temperature logs, scheduled activities and training.
Use information systems, technology and automation to complete assigned tasks.
Assist with the training of pharmacy caregivers and students.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
A high school diploma or GED.
Registration as a Certified Pharmacy Technician, Registered Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacy Technician Trainee with the Ohio Board of Pharmacy. You must be eligible for registration as a Certified Pharmacy Technician with the Ohio Board of Pharmacy and register within six months of hire.
Can communicate with other caregivers and patients in an effective and positive manner.
Demonstration of emotional control and intelligence in managing work relationships.
Can perform algebraic calculations necessary for the preparation of extemporaneous compounds.
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Completion of a formal pharmacy technician training program.
Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB). CPhT through the PTCB is required within 18 months of hire.
Six months of hospital experience.
