Job Title: Pharmacy Technician (Inpatient)
Job Description

A pharmacy technician assists pharmacists in various support activities and procedures involved in dispensing medical prescriptions. They gather, input, and double-check prescription, refill, and patient information, as well as receive and organize incoming supplies. Additionally, they might prepare labels and routine prepacked orders, and potentially handle certain clerical tasks related to the department.

ResponsibilitiesAssist pharmacists with dispensing medical prescriptions.Gather, input, and double-check prescription, refill, and patient information.Receive and organize incoming supplies.Prepare labels and routine prepacked orders.Handle certain clerical tasks related to the department.Rotate through different pharmacy stations during shifts (register, filling, input, insurance/prior authorizations, call center).Interact with patients face-to-face, providing great customer service.Support various hospital clinics including OR, vaccine clinic, and mail order.Dispense compounds (no compounding).Manage a high volume of prescriptions (1200 scripts/day).Essential SkillsPharmacy technician certification (CPhT).Pharmacy technician license.Pharmacy technician certificate.1-2 years of pharmacy technician experience.Experience in retail pharmacy.Experience in inpatient and outpatient settings.Data entry skills.Inventory management.Insurance and prior authorization experience.Inpatient experience.Additional Skills & QualificationsPTCB highly preferred; must be active after 6 months of employment.SC State license with BOP.Good communication and customer service skills.Background in customer service or waitressing is advantageous.Hardworking with the ability to hit the ground running.Takes initiative and finds tasks to do during slow periods.Good teamwork and collaboration skills.Work Environment

The outpatient pharmacy is located within a hospital, supporting various clinics such as transplant, sickle cell, pediatrics, internal medicine, and employee medications. The team consists of 50 members, including 18 pharmacists, 20 interns, and 14-16 pharmacy technicians. The environment is fast-paced, requiring technicians to be on their feet all day and comfortable with face-to-face patient interactions. Experience with software like Epic and Willow Ambulatory is not required, as on-the-job training will be provided.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00
