Pharmacy Technician - League City Outpatient Infusion (up to 19 hrs/wk, days) **League City, Texas, United States** Allied Health UTMB Health Requisition # 2404246 **MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS** **EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE** + High school diploma or equivalent **LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS OR CERTIFICATIONS** + Registered as a Pharmacy Technician with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy (TSBP) + **OR** + Registered as a _Pharmacist_ Intern with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy (TSBP) **PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS** + ACPE approved IV (sterile products) certification a plus + Hospital experience a plus. **JOB DESCRIPTION** The Pharmacy Technologist assists Pharmacists in providing drug distribution, technical services, and clinical services associated with the preparation, storage and dispensing of pharmaceuticals. **JOB DUTIES** + Prepares unit-dose medications specific to patient needs including patient’s weight, allergies, and age (e.g., pediatric, neonate, adolescent, adult, and geriatric). + Retrieves and delivers medication orders and supplies. + Prepares sterile products utilizing aseptic technique and USP 797 standards + Compounds bulk and extemporaneous pharmaceuticals specific to patients needs including weight and age (e.g., pediatric, neonate, adolescent, adult, and geriatric) utilizing USP 795 standards. + Demonstrates the ability to operate automated technology including compounding, repackaging, cartfill and Automated Drug Systems. + Communicates effectively with other pharmacy employees, healthcare professionals, and patients while appropriately recognizing age (e.g., pediatric, neonate, adolescent, adult, and geriatric). + Maintains adequate drug inventories in pharmacy areas and patient care areas and notifies the appropriate personnel when shortages and/or outages are noted. + Performs quality assurance/improvement audits + Maintains a neat clean and organized work area. + Demonstrates flexibility in staffing assignments. + Assists pharmacists in filling ambulatory prescriptions specific to patient needs including patient’s weight, allergies, and age (e.g., pediatric, neonate, adolescent, adult, and geriatric). + Assists in record keeping activities in any assigned area. + Adheres to internal controls and reporting structure. + Performs related duties as required. **KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES** + Effective communication skills + Demonstrates ability to prioritize and solve problems + Able to spend most of the day standing, walking, or bending.Able to sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, pull, reach, push up to 50 lbs., and regularly and occasionally lift 0-30 lbs. **WORK SCHEDULE** Days, up to 19.99 hours per week with no benefits **Equal Employment Opportunity** UTMB Health strives to provide equal opportunity employment without regard to race, color, religion, age, national origin, sex, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity/expression, genetic information, disability, veteran status, or any other basis protected by institutional policy or by federal, state or local laws unless such distinction is required by law.
