Pharmacy Technician-in-Training assists in drug preparation, storage, distribution, and inventory management within a variety of pharmacy environments. This entry-level position participates in and completes Avera Health’s Pharmacy Technician Education Program in order to prepare for national certification exams to become a Certified Pharmacy Technician. Upon completion of the education program and successful Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) examination, the technician-in-training will be promoted into the role of Pharmacy Technician. Avera Health’s Pharmacy Technician Education Program consists of 400 hours of combined didactic, simulation, and experiential learning activities. Avera Health requires a two-year employment commitment upon completion of the Pharmacy Technician Education Program.Education and/or Experience
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or equivalent combination of education and experience required. Associates degree preferred. 0-6 months of experience is preferred.Certification/Licensure/Registrations
Ability to become registered with SD Board of Pharmacy within 30 days of hire. Registration with SD Board of Pharmacy is preferred.Work Schedule
Day/Evening Shift; 80 hours every 2 weeks Occasional weekend (Currently every 4th) Occasional holiday (Varies) No call timePay
The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience. 
$18.00 - $24.50 per hour
