As an Inpatient Pharmacy Technician, you will play a vital role in moving medications throughout the facility. You will join a team that empowers you to make valuable contributions to patient-focused care and teaching and research activities. In this unit, you will find a positive dynamic where caregivers respect and support one another in providing the best care possible.
**A caregiver in this position works evenings from 2:00PM - 10:30AM and 2:30PM - 11:00PM.**
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
+ Prepare medications through selecting, labeling, repacking, non-sterile compounding and sterile compounding.
+ Deliver medications to the appropriate storage locations in an accurate and timely manner.
+ Maintain accurate and appropriate inventories of medications and supplies and complete inventory audits, such as cycle counts and nursing unit inspections.
+ Maintain a safe and clean work area by complying with procedures, rules and regulations.
+ Document regulatory requirements, including temperature logs, scheduled activities and training.
+ Use information systems, technology and automation to complete assigned tasks.
+ Assist with the training of pharmacy caregivers and students.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
+ High School Diploma or GED
+ Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or the National Healthcare Association (NHA) upon hire
+ Active registration through the Ohio Board of Pharmacy (OBOP) as either a Certified Pharmacy Technician, Registered Pharmacy Technician, or Pharmacy Technician Trainee upon hire
+ Caregivers with active Pharmacy Technician Trainee or Registered Pharmacy Technician registrations are required to update their registration to a Certified Pharmacy Technician registration with the OBOP within six months
+ Understanding of algebraic calculations necessary for the preparation of extemporaneous compounds
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
+ Six months of hospital experience

**Physical Requirements:**
+ Working while standing, walking, reaching, stretching and sitting for prolonged periods
+ Manual dexterity sufficient to perform computer operations, dispensing and compounding
