Job Summary:

The technician functions under the supervision of the pharmacist. Provides basic prescription filling, inventory management and customer service. May assists with other pharmacy projects.

Key Position Details:

Majority of shifts will be at United OP Pharmacy. There may be opportunities to float to other locations. Weekday shifts will be scheduled between 7:30 am and 10:00 pm.Weekend shifts will be scheduled 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.

Job Description:

Principle Responsibilities

Prescription FillingOrder entry into pharmacy management softwareFulfilment of reviewed ordersFinal dispense according to dispositionReduces audit risk through proper checks including, but not limited to, DAW, days supply, NDC validation, dates of service, discrete directions and other standard practicesCustomer ServiceProvides service to internal and external customersGreets patients, employees and staff in a timely and courteous mannerObtains needed information through direct patient contact to support prescription fillingAdvocates for patients by searching for manufacturer and foundation copay assistanceTechnician will routinely complete the following responsibilities to manage and support drug distributionInventory Management – receipt and restock of wholesaler orders, transfer of medications to internal pharmaciesMedication picking in support of prescription fillingRestocks automated dispensing robotsMay troubleshoot malfunctioning equipmentMay assist with returns, waste, and reporting/resolution of discrepanciesComplete and document quality assurance activitiesMonitors expiration datingPerforms cleaningReports discrepancies or inaccuracies to pharmacist or supervisorOther duties as assigned.


Job Requirements

Must be 18 years of age with education and/or experience needed to meet required functional competencies as listed on the job description, and High school diploma or GED preferredVocational or Technical Training from an American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) accredited pharmacy technician training program preferredCollege of Pharmacy student in their first year of program (ineligible for intern registration) preferred0 to 2 years of retail pharmacy experience preferred or0 to 2 years of customer service experience preferredRegistered Pharmacy Technician - MN Board of Pharmacy required if working in the state of MN upon hire
