Pharmacy Technician- Sterile Compounding/Hazardous Drug

The primary role of this position will be in the pharmacy sterile and hazardous drug compounding areas.

The Pharmacy technician assists and supports the pharmacists. Technicians order and stock medications, transport medications, prepare medications under the supervision of a pharmacists, participate in the coordination of medication distribution. The Technician utilizes medication packaging and dispensing machines and other technologies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Assist pharmacists by performing routine duties that do not require professional judgment.Maintain patient profiles and other recordsHandle intra- and inter- departmental requisitionsHandle stock receipt/storage/controlPackage and label medicationsAssist in preparation of medicationsDeliver medicationsClean and maintain Pharmacy environment and equipmentOperate drug dispensing, packaging and preparation machinery / equipment including closed system transfer devicesAnswers and appropriately handles telephone calls to pharmacyCompletes appropriate documentation, including documentation required by USP <797> and USP <800>Work with computer-based applicationsTrain and orient staff

Qualifications

High School Diploma/G.E.D.   - RequiredCertified Pharmacy Technician- RequiredPrior sterile compounding experience strongly preferredFunctional mathematics skillsGood communication skillsGood customer service skillsGood work practicesAble work efficiently and accurately in a dynamic and complex environment.Self- initiating
