In this position, you will provide leadership, direction, and oversight of the pharmaceutical purchasing, inventory functions, and the automated dispensing systems at the Logistics Center Pharmacy. You will also ensure efficient utilization of automated dispensing cabinet inventory at the Newark and Wilmington Hospital campuses, and the Middletown Emergency Department.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:Establish and maintain appropriate inventory levels and to supply the pharmacy and other departments that guarantee supply availabilities in a cost-efficient manner.Supervise the computerized inventory systems, including ConnectRx, Swisslog Pharmacy Manager, and Omnicenter, including accurate processing of issues and receipts, and quality control of system output records.Create the pharmacy technician schedule for the Logistics Center campus on a monthly basis and maintain updates based on submitted schedule formsWorks with department management team to determine alternatives to critical stock shortages and assists with determining and implementing therapeutic substitutions.Reviews inventory levels in automated inventory management devices to ensure efficient inventory levels.Provides direction to floor stock, receiving staff, service assistants and volunteers to ensure department and customers’ needs are satisfied.Establishes, implements, and monitor controls which minimize the opportunity for diversion for both controlled and non-controlled drugs.Serves as department administrator for ECRI recall alert system. Addresses all drug recall alerts upon identifying if affected product has been purchased. If affected product is present, manages the recall by ensuring all affected product is identified, removed from inventory, quarantined and returned for credit. Communicates drug recall information to management and staff.Ensures the accuracy and availability of code cart trays, and the various pharmacy supplied emergency medication supplies (i.e. emergency medication boxes).Manages the pharmacy’s reverse distributor; monitors the account of returned outdated product and adjusts inventory to minimize or eliminate expired product.Serves as department administrator for Cetani temperature monitoring system. Responds to all pharmacy Cetani alerts and communicates with HVAC and/or IT as needed during the hours of 0700-1530 Monday through Friday (after hours and weekends are handled by Pharmacy Manager On Call). Communicates Cetani related concerns to pharmacy staff.Coordinates staff for semi-annual physical inventory across all campusesProvides guidance and assistance to technicians receiving, breaking down, and storing wholesaler and vendor shipments.Provides oversight and management of the drug repackaging process to ensure the availability of system compatible bar-coded product and process and output integrity.Update and maintain applicable policies to area of work on a quarterly basis.Coordinates oversight of pharmacy assistants and service assistants.Prepares/performs annual performance evaluations in a timely thoughtful manner.Maintains documentation and establishes procedures necessary for compliance with all CMS, Board of Pharmacy, Joint Commission, State, Federal, Local and hospital regulations.Trains staff, establishes level of expectations, and assures that productivity is maintained at that level.Manage the checking of expiration dates of floor stock supply orders so that no expired products get out to patient care areas.Education and Experience requirements:High school diploma requiredBachelors degree preferredCertified Pharmacy Technician required (PTCB)At least three years of experience in an inpatient hospital pharmacyPrevious supervisory experience preferredExperience with purchasing and inventory control preferredAn equivalent combination of education and experience may be substitutedChristianaCare Offers:Incredible Work/Life benefits including medical/dental/ vision insurance coverage on your first day of employment, paid PTO, retirement plans, twelve weeks of paid parental leave, annual membership to care.com, access to backup care services for dependents through Care@Work, retirement planning services, financial coaching, fitness and wellness reimbursement, and great discounts through several vendors for hotels, rental cars, theme parks, shows, sporting events, movie tickets and much more!
