Performs in the capacity of a Pharmacy Technician while providing students with valuable education to grow skills within the scope of Pharmacy Technicians. Provides an outstanding educational experience that provides students an opportunity to develop critical thinking skills, Pharmacy Technician care techniques, and attitudes essential for safe, effective practice within the scope of Pharmacy Technicians. This role is not limited to students and will include internal education support to pharmacy interns and orientees.Major Responsibilities:Functions as a role model demonstrating effective Pharmacy Technician care to our patients. Acts as a clinical resource for all Pharmacy Techs and orientees.Facilitates the student’s progress towards accepting more of the patient care assignment and the development of time management skills to facilitate the education of capable Pharmacy Technicians.Directs students in clinical situations, which will provide students with opportunities to meet goals and objectives, increase their skills and pass competencies evaluations.Develops relationships with the students that is relaxed, trusting, mutually respectful, informal, collaborative, and supportive.Completes evaluations on the student’s behavior, attitude, and skills.Competes all required documentation from the college where students are enrolled.Responsible for working with the orientees to ensure that their orientation packet is completed.Attends EPIC required courses as necessary for new hires and works with Pharmacy management to recommend follow up training requirements. Working with the EPIC Principal Trainer and Pharmacy Management, assists in translating the functionality of Willow Ambulatory system configuration and workflow validations into a training environment development, easy to understand classroom presentations, and assists with preparation and requirements for training sessions.Reviews EPIC Willow Ambulatory proficiency assessment and class evaluation at the end of each training session, consults with Pharmacy management, and forwards ideas to improve effectiveness of training to EPIC Principal Trainer. Keeps current with EPIC system changes and enhancements to ensure a thorough knowledge of the clinical information systems as they relate to pharmacy staff.Works closely with Pharmacy management to provide feedback on trainees, as well as developing and collaborating on ideas to improve training environment and program.Assists Pharmacy management in assessing feedback from training programs and forward ideas to modify the curriculum to better meet the needs of the learners. Reports on the effectiveness of the training solutions.Along with Pharmacy management, attends EPIC Willow ambulatory quarterly check in meetings to provide feedback from training perspective, as well as discovering what improvements and enhancements pharmacy teams are requesting.Maintains collaborative, team relationships with peers and colleagues in order to effectively contribute to the working groups achievement of goals, and to help foster a positive work environment.Works with leadership on creating/updating policies and procedures specific to pharmaceutical care. Standard Staffing Level Responsibilities: Complies with established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives.Attends variety of meetings, conferences, seminars as required or directed.Demonstrates use of Quality Improvement in daily operations.Complies with all health and safety regulations and requirements.Respects diverse views and approaches, demonstrates Standards of Respect, and contributes to creating and maintaining an environment of professionalism, tolerance, civility and acceptance toward all employees, patients and visitors.Maintains, regular, reliable, and predictable attendance.Performs other similar and related duties as required or directed.Position Qualifications:License/Certification/Education:Required:High School diploma or equivalent.Currently holds an active Pharmacy Technician License in the State of Massachusetts.Current EPIC certification(s) or ability to achieve based on UMass EPIC Project Commitment.Certified by one of the national governing bodies such as PTCB, or the National Healthcareer Association ExCPT.Preferred:Experience/Skills:Required:Must have at least 3 years of pharmacy experience. Positive work ethic, motivated and professional demeanor to promote teamwork in the department.Excellent oral and written communication skills.
