Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated Phlebotomist for the 3rd shift at our inpatient facility. The Phlebotomist will be responsible for greeting patients, performing blood draws, labeling and centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data, decontaminating equipment, and updating patient information. The role requires excellent customer service and the ability to explain procedures clearly to patients.
ResponsibilitiesGreet patients as they arrive at the lab and explain procedures clearly.Perform blood draws using straight needles and butterfly needles.Collect and store specimens according to established procedures.Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders.Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.Check test requisitions or computer labels against scripts for accuracy.Package specimens for transport and store them at required temperatures.Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations and attend annual department trainings.Answer telephone inquiries and read laboratory results to callers.Prepare sites for phlebotomy, handle insurance and billing, and process samples.Provide excellent customer service to patients.Essential SkillsHigh School Diploma or GED6+ months of phlebotomy/venipuncture experience in a fast-paced lab or hospital settingPrevious customer service experience in any settingProficiency with Microsoft Office SuiteAbility to take feedback well and eagerness to learnPatient-first mindsetPositive, hardworking attitude with initiativeAbility to work well with othersProven reliability and positive attendance recordAdditional Skills & QualificationsPhlebotomy certification is preferredExperience with specimen collection and handlingKnowledge of laboratory protocols and safety regulationsWork Environment
The position is located at Legacy Emanuel in Portland, OR. The schedule is Monday to Friday, 6:00 PM to 4:00 AM, with rotating weekends. The initial contract duration is 3 months, with the potential for extensions or direct hire based on performance and business needs. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.
