Phlebotomist
Job Title: Phlebotomist Description: We are seeking an experienced Phlebotomist with 2+ years of recent phlebotomy experience. The ideal candidate will be proficient with straight needles and comfortable performing venipunctures independently from day one. This role requires reliability, punctuality, and strong communication skills. While bilingual Spanish is preferred, it is not required. Must Have: + 2 recent years of Phlebotomy experience + Phlebotomy Certification + straight needles ( A MUST) Job Duties: - Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, record maintenance data and decontaminate, and update patient information. - Collect and store specimens according to established procedures. - Clearly and courteously explain the venipuncture process and other specimen collections (e.g., urine, fecal) as required. - Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles. - Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes. - Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders. - Verify test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure 100% accuracy. - Package specimens for transport. - Store specimen samples at required temperatures, place samples in appropriate collection containers/tubes, accurately label, and follow specific procedures to maintain specimen integrity during transport. Work Environment Working at a PSC in the Staten Island performing 30-50 blood draws per day. This is a one person location at times-must be comfortable working independently. Monday-Friday, 7:30am-12pm Every Saturday, 8am-12pm 26.5 hours weekly or more. Possibility of staying until 4 one day to close up but not required.
