Job Title: Phlebotomist
Job Description

Summary: The main function of a phlebotomist is to assist in performing various assigned duties, troubleshooting, training, and making workflow recommendations.Position Responsibilities: This role involves performing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data, decontaminating equipment, and updating patient information. The phlebotomist collects and stores specimens according to established procedures, clearly and courteously explains the venipuncture process and other specimen collection methods, and demonstrates techniques using straight and/or butterfly needles. The role requires a full understanding of physicians' orders and the ability to match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes. The phlebotomist labels, centrifuges, splits, and freezes specimens as required, ensures the accuracy of test requisitions, packages specimens for transport, and stores samples according to required temperatures. Additionally, the phlebotomist must comply with OSHA and DEP regulations, attend annual department training, and handle telephone inquiries related to laboratory results.

This is a contract position with a duration of 13 Weekly.

Work Site

This is a fully on-site position in Baltimore, Maryland.

Work Environment

The position requires working in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting. The work schedule is 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday.
