Understand compliance and safety comprehensively and effectively communicate its importance to other employees. Provide orientation and training for patient service staff. Responsibilities + Perform blood collection by venipuncture and capillary technique from patients of all age groups. + Conduct pediatric blood collections and manage difficult draws. + Ensure compliance with safety protocols and communicate the importance of compliance and safety to other employees. + Provide orientation and training for patient service staff. + Handle specimen processing for inpatient care. Essential Skills + High School Diploma + CPT 1 License + 1 year of phlebotomy experience in a hospital setting (Pediatrics, ICU, High Volume, etc.) or 2 years of phlebotomy experience in a reference laboratory setting. + Ability to be on-call and work the same day. + Willingness to work 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shifts. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Must not be afraid of drawing patients on COVID floors. + Must not be afraid of COVID . + Comfortable with working weekends. + Flexibility with shift timings. Work Environment This is an on-call position requiring flexibility to work 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shifts, including weekends. Due to a union agreement, contingent workers cannot be scheduled until current employees have been offered hours. Most available shifts are due to same-day call-outs. You will be called in by supervisors and schedulers and must be ready to pick up shifts. Training will be conducted on the 1st shift, Monday through Friday, at one location for the first few weeks.
