Job Details The Phlebotomist collects adequate and correct blood specimens by venipuncture or micro technique on adults, children, and infants within the hospital, including outpatients, pre-surgical patients, Emergency Department patients, and patients in remote locations. For the mobile Phlebotomist duties will include other satellite locations deemed necessary by the hospital. Responsibilities: Obtain daily orders for each nursing home unit and patient demographic information for registration Collection, and specimen distribution to hospital central processing department Perform daily STAT phlebotomy collections for nursing home patients, as requested Maintain supply inventory at site locations and perform monthly review of expiration dates HIS registration and LIS order entry of nursing home testing orders Perform phlebotomy collections for home bound patients, which includes the following facilities: Private homes, Dominican Village, Queen of the Rosary and Madonna Heights Obtain orders and patient demographic information for registration of patients at each of the above sites Registration and LIS order entry of OPD laboratory home services testing orders Perform scheduled and STAT specimen transport with safe transportation including blood urine or pathology specimens from physician's offices and GSHMC PST to the hospital laboratory. Responsible for vehicle physical and internal inspection at departure and return point of vehicle assignment Responsible for maintaining and fueling vehicle at the end of the shift Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent Certification from the American Society of Phlebotomy Technicians preferred. Six months experience in all phases of Phlebotomy and EKG desired. Prior experience in a hospital environment preferred. Weekends and holidays as scheduled. Excellent interpersonal skills required. Strong customer focus. BLS training required and accepted from only 2 organizations: American Heart Association or American Red Cross. No online programs from any organization will be accepted Excellent driving record is required Salary Range USD $22.70 - USD $34.00 /Hr. This range serves as a good faith estimate and actual pay will encompass a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience. The salary range or rate listed does not include any bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation that may be applicable to this job, and it does not include the value of benefits.
