Job Title: Phlebotomist

Job Description

The main function of a phlebotomist is to assist in performing various assigned duties, troubleshooting, training, and making workflow recommendations.

ResponsibilitiesPerform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, record maintenance data, and decontaminate equipment.Update patient information and collect and store specimens according to established procedures.Explain the process of venipuncture and other specimen collections in a clear and courteous manner.Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.Fully understand all physicians' orders and match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders.Check all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure accuracy.Package specimens for transport and store specimen samples according to required temperatures.Place samples in appropriate collection containers/tubes, accurately label them, and follow specific procedures for transport to maintain the integrity of the specimens.Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.Attend annual department trainings.Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.Essential SkillsBlood drawPhlebotomySpecimen collection2+ years of experienceHigh School Diploma or GEDAdditional Skills & QualificationsPhlebotomy certification for the state where you will be employed, as required in some states.Work Environment

The work schedule is Monday to Friday from 8:30 AM to 5 PM, Wednesday from 10 AM to 6 PM, and Thursday at the PSC. This position is in an HIV/AIDS clinic.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $23.00
