Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Phlebotomist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination, and updating patient information. You will be responsible for collecting and storing specimens according to established procedures, explaining the process of venipuncture and other specimen collection clearly and courteously, and demonstrating techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.
ResponsibilitiesCollect and store specimens according to established procedures.Properly explain the process of venipuncture and other specimen collection in a clear and courteous manner.Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.Fully understand all of the physicians' orders.Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes. Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order.Check all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure 100% accuracy.Package specimens for transport.Store specimen samples according to required temperature and label them accurately.Follow different procedures as outlined by specific protocols necessary for transport to maintain the integrity of the specimen.Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.Attend annual department trainings.Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.Essential SkillsBlood drawBlood drawingPhlebotomyHigh volume blood draw experienceStraight needle experienceCentrifuge operationBlood pressure measurementAdditional Skills & QualificationsGED or HS DiplomaPhlebotomy experience in high volume patient service center or oncology center
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $23.00
