Job Title: Phlebotomist

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Phlebotomist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have expertise in performing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data, decontaminating equipment, and updating patient information. This role requires meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of patient care and safety.

ResponsibilitiesCollect and store specimens according to established procedures.Clearly and courteously explain the process of venipuncture and other specimen collections to patients.Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.Fully understand and follow physicians' orders.Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes and label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order.Check all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure 100% accuracy.Package specimens for transport.Store specimen samples at the required temperature and in appropriate containers, accurately labeling them and following specific protocols to maintain specimen integrity during transport.Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.Attend annual department trainings.Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.Essential SkillsExperience in blood draws, phlebotomy, and high-volume blood drawing.Expertise with straight needles and centrifuges.Proficiency in handling blood pressure measurements.Ability to process specimens and enter data accurately and efficiently.Additional Skills & QualificationsGED or High School Diploma required.Phlebotomy experience in a high-volume patient service center or oncology center preferred.Experience with difficult sticks and the ability to adapt to different personalities and patient needs.No certification required for phlebotomy.
Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $23.00
