Job Title: Phlebotomist

Job Description

The main function of a Phlebotomist is to assist in performing various assigned duties, troubleshooting, training, and making workflow recommendations. The phlebotomist will be responsible for blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data, decontamination, and updating patient information.

ResponsibilitiesPerform blood draws and label specimens accurately.Centrifuge specimens and record maintenance data.Decontaminate equipment and update patient information.Collect and store specimens according to established procedures.Explain the process of venipuncture and other specimen collections clearly and courteously.Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.Fully understand all physician orders.Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order.Check all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure 100% accuracy.Package specimens for transport and store specimen samples according to required temperature.Essential SkillsProficiency in blood draws and venipunctureExperience in specimen collectionHigh level of customer service skills1+ years of phlebotomy experience in a lab, clinic, or hospital settingProficient with the order of drawExperience drawing on all agesExcellent attendance and reliability

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $20.00
