Job Title: Certified Phlebotomist Job Description We are seeking a skilled Certified Phlebotomist to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for performing blood draws, labeling specimens, and ensuring accurate and efficient specimen processing. This role requires excellent attention to detail, strong communication skills, and proficiency in using laboratory equipment and software. Responsibilities + Perform blood draws, label specimens, and centrifuge specimens. + Record maintenance data and perform decontamination procedures. + Update patient information accurately. + Collect and store specimens according to established procedures. + Clearly and courteously explain the process of venipuncture, blood drawing, and other specimen collections (e.g., urine, fecal). + Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles. + Fully understand and follow all physicians' orders. + Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes. + Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders. + Check all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure 100% accuracy. + Package specimens for transport. + Store specimen samples according to required temperatures. Essential Skills + Certification in Phlebotomy required. + 1-3 Years of experience required. + Experience in phlebotomy and specimen handling. + Strong attention to detail and accuracy. + Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. + Ability to follow established procedures and protocols. + Proficiency in using laboratory equipment and software. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Extensive knowledge of order of draw. + Expertise in specimen processing. + Skill in bedside manner. + Experience with specimen collection, specimen processing, geriatrics, pediatrics, and triage. Work Environment The work environment involves working in a laboratory setting with standard laboratory equipment and software. The role requires adherence to safety protocols and proper handling of specimens to ensure accuracy and reliability. The position may involve working with a variety of patients, including geriatrics and pediatrics, and may require flexibility in handling different types of specimen collections. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $24.00 Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
