Phlebotomist

Founded in 1906, McLeod Health is a locally owned and managed, not for profit organization supported by the strength of more than 900 members on its medical staff and more than 2,900 licensed nurses. McLeod Health is also composed of approximately 15,000 team members and more than 90 physician practices throughout its 18-county service area. With seven hospitals, McLeod Health operates three Health and Fitness Centers, a Sports Medicine and Outpatient Rehabilitation Center, Hospice and Home Health Services. The system currently has 988 licensed beds, including Hospice and Behavioral Health. The hospitals within McLeod Health include: McLeod Regional Medical Center, McLeod Health Dillon, McLeod Health Loris, McLeod Health Seacoast, McLeod Health Cheraw, McLeod Health Clarendon and McLeod Behavioral Health.  

1.    Maintains a professional image and exhibits excellent customer relations to patients, visitors, physicians, and co-workers in accordance with our Service Excellence Standards and Core Values.
2.    Process laboratory specimens with an emphasis on accuracy, timeliness, completeness, safety, and compliance.
3.    Follow proper specimen identification procedures in the execution of all job duties.
4.    Prepare specimens for laboratory testing.
5.    Distribute specimens to the appropriate testing areas in the laboratory
6.    Receive incoming phone calls, document and follow through on incoming request 
7.    Prepare laboratory specimens from other facilities
8.    Investigate, document, and resolve specimen issues to ensure timely and accurate reporting of results.
9.    Meet departmental turnaround time goals.
10.    Effectively use computer options relevant to job duties in section
11.    Properly store excess specimen samples 
12.    Acknowledge and/or greet guests and customers in a kind, professional manner and explain procedure
13.    Identify patient according to lab policies and procedures.
14.    Collect, prepare, store and/or transport specimens using correct techniques and supplies.
15.    Collect, process and perform bedside testing according to protocol.
16.    Assist in maintaining supplies
17.    Maintain an organized and clean work area based on health and safety regulations.
18.    Train new staff and students


Licenses/Certifications/Registrations/Education:
•    HS diploma preferred or GED
•    Graduation from a phlebotomy program from an accredited school is preferred
