Job Title: Phlebotomist
Job Description

We are seeking an experienced phlebotomist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data, decontamination, and updating patient information. This role involves collecting and storing specimens according to established procedures, explaining the process of venipuncture clearly and courteously, and demonstrating techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.

ResponsibilitiesCollect and store specimens according to established procedures.Clearly and courteously explain the process of venipuncture and other specimen collections as required.Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.Fully understand all physicians' orders.Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by the test order.Check all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure 100% accuracy.Package specimens for transport.Store specimen samples at the required temperature and accurately label them.Follow different procedures as outlined by specific protocols to maintain specimen integrity during transport.Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.Attend annual department training sessions.Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.Essential SkillsBlood draw and phlebotomy skillsExperience in OBGYN preferred6+ months of experience in phlebotomyExperience with straight needles (rarely use butterfly needles)Ability to process samples using a centrifugeUnderstanding of blood pressure measurementsAdditional Skills & QualificationsGED or High School DiplomaPhlebotomy experience in a high-volume patient service center or oncology centerWork Environment

The position is based at Suite C2, Hoboken, New Jersey. Work hours are Monday to Thursday from 12 pm to 7:30 pm, and Saturday from 10 am to 4 pm. The back area involves processing, centrifuging, handling SPM, and entering data into the system electronically. The role requires someone who can keep up with a high volume and fast pace, handle difficult sticks, and adapt to different personalities. Good energy is needed to support patients who are going through a lot. The goal is to minimize the number of sticks per patient to no more than two times. No certification is needed for phlebotomy.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $23.00
