Job Title: Phlebotomist

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced phlebotomist proficient in blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data, decontamination, and updating patient information. The ideal candidate will have experience in primary care or internal medicine.

ResponsibilitiesCollect and store specimens according to established procedures.Clearly and courteously explain the process of venipuncture and other specimen collection (e.g., urine or fecal) as required.Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.Fully understand all physicians' orders.Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders.Check all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure 100% accuracy.Package specimens for transport.Store specimen samples according to required temperature and place samples in appropriate collection containers/tubes, accurately labeling and following different procedures as outlined by specific protocol to maintain the integrity of the specimen during transport.Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.Attend annual department trainings.Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.Essential SkillsProficiency in blood draws and phlebotomy.Experience with straight needles.Experience with accessioning and centrifuging specimens.Phlebotomy certification.Additional Skills & QualificationsGED or HS Diploma.Experience in primary care or internal medicine.Work Environment

The work environment includes smaller in-office doctor settings or Patient Service Centers (PSCs) within a larger company, providing exposure to different and smaller settings. The position is based in Florham Park, New Jersey, and involves working 16 hours total per week on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 9 am to 1 pm. Candidates should have experience in primary care for Atlantic Health System.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $23.00
