UPMC Chautauqua in Jamestown, NY is excited to welcome your application as a full-time flex Phlebotomist! This position offers flexible scheduling with day shifts, Monday through Friday, between 4:00 AM to 5:30 PM, along with weekend and holiday rotations. Preferred candidates will have phlebotomy experience and, ideally, have completed a phlebotomy program. Knowledge of medical terminology and patient care experience are highly valued. In this role, there is the opportunity to - + Interact courteously and professionally with all laboratory customers, responding to telephone inquiries in a timely manner. + Procure blood specimens using venipuncture, heelstick, and fingerstick, following proper patient identification procedures. + Instruct patients on correct specimen collection procedures for laboratory tests and collect non-blood samples as needed. + Demonstrate dependability and independent judgment, recognizing priorities to meet department needs and follow appropriate authority. + Collect specimens at off-site locations and safely transport them to the laboratory for analysis. + Adhere to laboratory and hospital policies, including quality control, safety, and hand hygiene techniques. + Perform clerical duties and accurately enter patient demographic information, test orders, and sample data into the information system. + Train and orient new employees, students, and residents, and inform technical staff of any unusual or problematic incidents.
