Job Title: Phlebotomist DC
Job Description

The main function of a phlebotomist is to assist in performing various assigned duties, troubleshooting, training, and making workflow recommendations.

ResponsibilitiesPerform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, record maintenance data, and decontaminate.Update patient information as needed.Collect and store specimens according to established procedures.Explain the process of venipuncture, blood drawing, or other specimen collections clearly and courteously.Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.Fully understand all of the physicians' orders.Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order.Check all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure 100% accuracy.Package specimens for transport.Store specimen samples according to required temperature and place samples in appropriate collection containers/tubes.Follow different procedures as outlined to maintain the integrity of the specimen.Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.Attend annual department trainings.Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.Essential SkillsPhlebotomyBlood drawVenipunctureSpecimen collection1-2 years of experienceAdditional Skills & QualificationsHigh School Diploma or GEDExperience in PSC, customer service, laboratory, and specimen processingWork Environment

Monday to Friday, 8am-4:30pm. This is a medium-sized PSC with 20-30 draws a day. You will be working with one other employee.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $19.00
