UPMC Chautauqua is seeking a part-time Phlebotomist to join our team. This role requires working three 8-hour shifts each week, during hours between 4:00am and 5:30pm, with alternating weekends and holidays. Travel to support our outpatient Fredonia lab is required. The ideal candidate will have phlebotomy experience, completion of phlebotomy training, familiarity with medical terminology, excellent customer service skills, and patient care experience. In this role, there is the opportunity to –

Interact courteously and professionally with laboratory customers; respond to telephone inquiries promptly. Procure blood specimens by venipuncture, heelstick, and fingerstick, following patient identification procedures. Instruct patients on specimen collection procedures, including non-blood samples as needed. Demonstrate dependability and reliability, prioritizing tasks to meet departmental needs. Collect and transport specimens from on-site and off-site locations, adhering to safety procedures. Adhere to laboratory and hospital policies, including quality control, safety, and hygiene protocols. Perform related clerical duties, entering accurate demographic and test information into systems. Train and orient new employees, students, and residents as required. Notify technical staff and supervisors of any unusual or problematic incidents. Monitor and maintain supplies, using materials efficiently to control costs.
