Join the UPMC Northwest team as a casual Phlebotomist! This position offers varied shifts (4:30am-1:00pm, 10:30am-7:00pm, 12:30pm-9:00pm), serving approximately 12 hours per week. In this role, there is the opportunity to - + Interact with laboratory customers professionally, ensuring timely responses to inquiries. + Follow patient identification procedures to collect blood specimens via venipuncture, heelstick, and fingerstick. + Demonstrate reliability and independent judgment to prioritize tasks based on department needs. + Transport specimens from on-site and off-site locations to the appropriate laboratory sections safely. + Adhere to laboratory and hospital policies on procedures, quality control, safety, and compliance. + Perform clerical duties, accurately entering demographic and test information into the system. + Train and orient new employees, students, and residents, as assigned. + Inform technical staff or supervisors of any unusual or problematic incidents related to specimen collection. Required + High school diploma or equivalent Preferred + Certification from an accredited Phlebotomy or Medical Assistant program + Experience performing phlebotomy + Medical terminology knowledge and laboratory information system experience **Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:** Phlebotomy Technician (PBT(ASCP)) or equivalent certification preferred.
