In this role, there is the opportunity to –
Interact with laboratory customers courteously and professionally, responding to inquiries promptly. Procure blood specimens using venipuncture, heelstick, and fingerstick, following patient identification procedures. Instruct patients on proper collection methods for laboratory specimens, ensuring correct sample acquisition. Demonstrate dependability and independent judgment, recognizing priorities and adapting to department needs. Transport specimens from on- and off-site locations to the laboratory, adhering to safety procedures. Adhere to established hospital and laboratory policies, including quality control, safety, and isolation precautions. Perform clerical tasks, entering demographic information and test data into the information system accurately.
