In this role, there is an opportunity to -
+ Interact courteously with laboratory customers, responding to inquiries promptly and professionally.
+ Procure blood specimens by venipuncture, heelstick, and fingerstick, following patient identification procedures.
+ Instruct patients on proper specimen collection techniques when required, ensuring accuracy and clarity.
+ Demonstrate reliability and independent judgment, prioritizing tasks to meet department needs.
+ Transport specimens to laboratory sections, adhering to established safety procedures and protocols.
+ Adhere to laboratory and hospital policies regarding procedures, safety, quality control, and hygiene standards.
+ Perform clerical duties, entering accurate patient and test information into laboratory information systems.
+ Train and orient new employees, students, and residents, providing guidance and support as needed.
Required
+ High school diploma or equivalent
Preferred
+ Certification from an accredited Phlebotomy or Medical Assistant program
+ Experience performing phlebotomy
+ Medical terminology knowledge and laboratory information system experience
**Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:**
Phlebotomy Technician (PBT(ASCP)) or equivalent certification preferred.
