Phlebotomists draw and collect blood samples from patients, verifies records and prepares specimens for laboratory analysis. Phlebotomists may conduct interviews, take vital signs, and draw and test blood samples to screen donors at blood bank. Phlebotomists are expected to rely on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job and work under immediate supervision. Phlebotomists typically reports to a supervisor or manager.
Education: Requires a high school diploma or equivalent.
Certification(s): Certification by a nationally recognized body. Has knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field.
Experience: Minimum 6 months of experience.
