Job Description
The main function of a phlebotomist is to assist in performing various assigned duties, troubleshooting, training, and making workflow recommendations.
ResponsibilitiesPerform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, record maintenance data, and decontaminate equipment.Update patient information as required.Collect and store specimens according to established procedures.Explain the process of venipuncture and other specimen collections (e.g., urine or fecal) in a clear and courteous manner.Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.Fully understand all physicians' orders.Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by the test order.Ensure all test requisitions or computer labels are 100% correct against the script.Package specimens for transport.Store specimens at the required temperature and place samples in appropriate collection containers/tubes.Accurately label samples and follow procedures to maintain the integrity of the specimen for transport.Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.Attend annual department trainings.Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.Essential SkillsPhlebotomy certification valid in the state of employment.Minimum of 6 months' work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.High School Diploma or GED.2-4 years of experience in a related role.Additional Skills & QualificationsCustomer service orientation.Experience working in a fast-paced environment.Work Environment
This is an IOP that acts as a PSC servicing 100+ patients daily. The position operates on the 1st shift, Monday through Friday from 7:30 am to 4:00 pm, with scheduled Saturdays as needed.

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $24.00
