Job Description
The main function of a phlebotomist is to assist in performing various assigned duties, troubleshooting, training, and making workflow recommendations.
ResponsibilitiesPerform blood draws, label specimens, and centrifuge specimens.Record maintenance data and decontaminate equipment.Update patient information and collect/store specimens according to established procedures.Explain the process of venipuncture and other specimen collection methods clearly and courteously.Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.Fully understand all physicians' orders and match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders.Check all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure 100% accuracy.Package specimens for transport and store specimen samples according to required temperatures.Place samples in appropriate collection containers/tubes, accurately label them, and follow procedures to maintain specimen integrity.Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.Attend annual department trainings.Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.Essential SkillsPhlebotomyBlood drawSpecimen collectionHigh School Diploma or GEDPhlebotomy certification as required in some states2+ years of experienceAdditional Skills & QualificationsMinimum of a high school diploma or GEDPhlebotomy certification for the state where you will be employedWork Environment
This role involves working in an HIV/AIDS clinic. The schedule is Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 5 PM, Wednesday from 10 AM to 6 PM, and Thursday will involve working at a Patient Service Center (PSC).

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $23.00
