Job Title: Phlebotomist (Float)

Job Description

- 3 or more years of recent professional phlebotomy experience

- Proficient with straight needles (must be comfortable performing venipunctures on their own on day 1)

- Reliable, punctual, strong communication skills

***Bilingual Spanish highly preferred but not required***

JOB DUTIES:

- Performing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination, updating patient information, etc.

- Collects and stores specimens according to established procedures.

- Properly explains in a clear but courteous manner the process of venipuncture (blood drawing) and/or other specimen collection (e.g., urine or fecal) as required.

- Demonstrate technique/s using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.

- Matches laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.

- Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order.

- Check all test requisitions or computer labels against script to ensure 100% accuracy.

- Package specimens for transport.

- Store specimen samples according to required temperatures, place samples in appropriate collection containers/tubes, accurately label, and follow different procedures as outlined by specific protocols to maintain the integrity of the specimen during transport.

This is a Contract-to-Hire position with a duration of 6 Month(s). Full benefits provided -this is a long term full time role NOT a short term contract.

This is a fully on-site position in Bronx, New York.

Work Environment

Working as a floater traveling throughout the Bronx.
