Phlebotomist II
Job Title: Phlebotomist II We are seeking an experienced Phlebotomist II to perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, record maintenance data, decontaminate, and update patient information. The candidate will collect and store specimens according to established procedures and explain the venipuncture and other specimen collection processes clearly and courteously. The role requires demonstrating techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles, understanding physicians' orders, and ensuring proper labeling and transport of specimens. Responsibilities + Perform blood draws using straight needles and/or butterfly needles. + Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order. + Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes. + Check all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure accuracy. + Package specimens for transport and store specimen samples according to required temperature. + Follow OSHA and DEP regulations and attend annual department trainings. + Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries. + Float to various client sites and perform blood draws on all patients. Essential Skills + Phlebotomy + Blood draw + Venipuncture + Experience with pediatric and geriatric patients + Minimum of 1 year of work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting + Strong newborn/pediatric-geriatric draw experience + High School Diploma or GED Additional Skills & Qualifications + Phlebotomy certification in IL + Reliable means of transportation + Bilingual in English/Spanish (nice to have) Work Environment The Phlebotomist II must be able to travel to all locations in the designated territory which includes Joliet, Merrionette Park, Palos Park, Mokena, Palos Heights, New Lenox, Erie Division, Evanstan, Waukegan, Oak Brook, and surrounding areas. The candidate must be available Monday-Friday as early as 6 am, with typical shifts being 9 am-6 pm on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, and as late as 7:30 pm on Wednesdays. Weekend hours are 8 am-12 pm, with rotating weekends. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $23.00/hr.
