Job Description

The primary role of a Phlebotomist is to perform various assigned duties, troubleshoot issues, provide training, and recommend workflow improvements. This position involves tasks such as blood draws, specimen labeling, centrifuging, recording maintenance data, decontamination, and updating patient information.

ResponsibilitiesPerform blood draws and label specimens.Centrifuge specimens and record maintenance data.Decontaminate and update patient information.Collect and store specimens according to established procedures.Clearly and courteously explain the venipuncture process and other specimen collections.Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.Fully understand and follow all physicians' orders.Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order.Ensure 100% accuracy by checking all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts.Package specimens according to required temperature and protocol for transport.Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.Attend annual department training sessions.Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to address inquiries.Essential SkillsProficiency in blood drawing, phlebotomy, and venipuncture.Experience with specimen collection.Customer service orientation.Ability to work with pediatric patients.Minimum of 2 years of experience in a related field.Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment (as required).Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.High School Diploma or GED.Additional Skills & Qualifications2-4 years of experience in phlebotomy.Strong attention to detail and accuracy.Work Environment

This position operates from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday. This is an In-Office Position (IOP).

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $24.00
