You would be responsible for providing skilled phlebotomy in the Patient Service Centers in the Springfield, MA area. Collects and processes blood and other specimens on all patient age groups according to established policies and procedures for clinical laboratory testing to ensure accurate lab results that will assist the physician in diagnosis and treatment. Must have dependable transportation.
What you will do:
Receives assignments, reviews labels and/or requisitions, obtains required supplies and equipment necessary to carry out tasks.
Processes requisitions for completeness, check appropriate signatures obtained, enter patient data, test requested, requesting physician and billing information into computer. Verifies billing and insurance information.
Verifies patient identification, prepares skin site, and performs venipuncture and skin puncture according to established aseptic techniques.
Labels specimens and transports them to the laboratory for analysis.
Drives personal vehicle to travel to if coverage needed in another Patient Service Center

Requirements:
High school diploma/GED
Nat'l Phlebotomy Certification preferred. Valid driver’s license in good standing required by the Commonwealth of MA.
1 year of experience, preferred.
Strong interpersonal skills; strong phlebotomy skills. Adaptability and flexibility necessary for work schedule and patient care requirements. Good command of the English language and medical terminology.
