Phlebotomist (PRN)
Overview Collects laboratory specimens from patients; performs routine laboratory tests; and performs various clerical duties. Qualifications EDUCATION REQUIREMENT High school education or general education degree (GED). Completion of a phlebotomy program from a technical school is preferred. EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT None required. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Prefer a Registered Phlebotomy Technician with the American Society of Clinical Pathologist. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification must be obtained within ninety (90) days of hire and maintained throughout employment. OTHER QUALIFICATIONS Employee must not and will not be under sanction by the United States Department of Health and Human Services Office of the Inspector General (OIG) or by the General Services Administration (GSA) or listed on the OIG’s Cumulative Sanction Report, or the GSA’s List of Excluded Providers, or listed on the OIG’s List of Excluded Individuals/Entities (LEIE). Must meet and maintain pre-employment and periodic background investigation and adjudication for child care. PHYSICAL DEMANDS While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. WORK ENVIRONMENT While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
