This is a PRN position (On-Call - No Benefits) - you will receive an additional 15% PRN pay in lieu of benefits
Primary (Essential) Duties\:
Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.Interacts professionally with patients/families; treats patients and their families with respect and dignity. Identifies and addresses psychosocial, cultural, ethnic and religious/spiritual needs of patients and their families. Effectively and appropriately communicate with patients, physicians, family members and co-workers, demonstrating customer service excellence through application of positive language principles, appropriate response and use of constructive problem-solving techniques which foster positive outcomes.
Greets patients in a professional, courteous manner.
Obtains specimens by proper, established techniques, with demonstrated competency.
Obtains outpatient specimens (sometimes with direct observation) and swabs, as needed.
Non-patient specimen registrations.
Label specimens immediately, according to policy, and distributes to appropriate testing areas of laboratory.
Enters and retrieves computer data. Scans laboratory reports not available through the computer.
Completes essential records such as chain of custody forms, assuring to verify patient photo identification.
Performs clerical, general, and phlebotomy duties related to daily operations in the laboratory.
Maintains accurate and continued documentation. Documentation meets current standards and policies.
Care for and maintain supplies and equipment, assisting in inventory control. Alert supervisor to defective equipment and supplies.
Maintains work area in a sanitary condition, at all times.
Responsible for adequately stocked and organized inventory of reagents and supplies in the laboratory. Reports needed supplies to Director.
Applies principles of sterile techniques and infection control procedures.
Assists in orientation and training of new staff/students as necessary.
Performs other reasonably related job duties as assigned or requested, within scope of practice
