Position Summary
Collects and processes blood specimens for testing in the laboratory.
Reports to: Director of Laboratory
Responsibilities of the Position
Labels, processes and delivers specimens for testing.
Collects blood specimens using age-appropriate techniques.
Maintains equipment and medical supplies.
Assists with coordinating and conducting blood drives, including interviewing and screening donors.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education
High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
Certifications/Licenses
Phlebotomy certification from a nationally recognized certification agency is required.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required through American Heart Association upon hire.
Required Skills
Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
