Summary: The Phlebotomist – Rounds Team is responsible for the collection, handling and transport of blood specimens for the Fatima Hospital inpatient units as well as community settings. The Rounds Team Phlebotomist performs a high number of specimen collections during peak collection times throughout the hospital or other location.
Education: High school diploma or GED with education in Phlebotomy required.
Licensure: Phlebotomy certification required.
Experience: Three to six months experience as a Phlebotomist.

Ability to work cooperatively with peers and other disciplines. Demonstrated customer service skill. Ability to utilize sound interpersonal skills when interacting with patients and taking into consideration cultural background, linguistic skills and age of customers. Ability to read, write and communicate in English, required. Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with peers/other departments. Ability to work independently and identify tasks that need to be completed. Knowledge of Medical terminology preferred. Demonstrates Phlebotomy skills and specimen packaging and handling. Maintains confidentiality of Protected Health Information. Demonstrated customer service skills.
Working Conditions, Physical Environment and/or Safety Requirements: Visual acuity and hand dexterity. Physical ability involves a variety of body movements including stooping, bending, kneeling, lifting, standing, walking, climbing, twisting, stretching, and reaching. Physical ability involves pushing, pulling and lifting more than 50 lbs. Traveling to off-site locations to collect specimens.
