Job Title: Phlebotomist - Springfield
Job Description

Summary: The main function of a phlebotomist is to assist in performing various assigned duties, troubleshooting, training, and making workflow recommendations.

ResponsibilitiesExperience doing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data, and decontamination.Updating patient information.Collect and store specimens according to established procedures.Properly explain in a clear but courteous manner the process of the venipuncture (blood drawing) and/or other specimen collection (e.g., urine or fecal) as required.Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.Fully understand all of the physicians' orders.Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order.Check all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure 100% accuracy.Package specimens for transport.Store specimen samples according to required temperature, place samples in appropriate collection containers/tubes, accurately label, and follow different procedures as outlined by specific protocols to maintain the integrity of the specimen.Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.Attend annual department trainings.Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.Essential SkillsPhlebotomyBlood drawSpecimen collection1-2 years of experiencePediatric experience requiredHealth careCustomer serviceCPTButterfly needle techniqueAdditional Skills & QualificationsHigh School Diploma or GED1-2 years of work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital settingWork Environment

Mon-Fri 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM in a Pediatric Clinic.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00
