The Phlebotomist draws blood from patients or donors of allages in hospitals, clinics, blood banks, or similar facilities for analysis orother medical purposes.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Assembles equipment, such as tourniquets, needles, anddisposable containers for sharps, blood collection devices, gauze, cotton, andalcohol on work tray, according to requirements for specified tests orprocedures Verifies identity of patient or donor Converses with patient or donor and explains procedure Applies tourniquet to arm, locates accessible vein, swabspuncture area with antiseptic, and inserts needle into vein to draw blood intocollection tube or bag Knowledgeable in selection of appropriate collectiondevices, tubes and gauges Withdraws needle, applies treatment to puncture site, andlabels and stores blood container for subsequent processing Other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements:
