Job Title: Phlebotomist WarrentonJob Description The main function of a phlebotomist is to assist in performing various assigned duties, troubleshooting, training, and making workflow recommendations. Responsibilities include performing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data, decontaminating, and updating patient information. The phlebotomist collects and stores specimens according to established procedures and explains the process of venipuncture and other specimen collections in a clear and courteous manner. The role requires proficiency in using straight needles and butterfly needles, matching laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes, and ensuring the correct labeling, centrifuging, splitting, and freezing of specimens. Additional responsibilities include packaging specimens for transport, complying with OSHA and DEP regulations, attending annual department trainings, and answering telephone calls to provide laboratory results.
