PHYSICAL SECURITY SPECIALIST
Summary This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA STRL for Certain Hard to Fill or Direct Support Positions to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: This position is with The Chemical Biological Center (CBC).The Chemical Biological Center (CBC) is participating in an alternative personnel system known as the Laboratory Personnel Demonstration Project (DEMO). Responsibilities Conduct review and analysis of biological physical security plans and inspection/survey reports for compliance with existing policies and procedures. Provides technical review and recommends approval of requests for physical security deviations, vulnerability assessments, and recapture and recovery plans. Advise the Biological Select Agent and Toxin (BSAT) manager of security deficiencies and recommends revision of policy as a result of trends discovered in review and analysis process. Monitor, analyze, and review law enforcement reports of loss and theft of Government property. Performs as the Antiterrorism/Force Protection (AT/FP) Officer conducting comprehensive review and analysis of AT/FP plans. Represents the organization at meetings with Antiterrorism/Force Protection (AT/FP, security, and intelligence representatives. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: Analyzing physical security programs which include antiterrorism, force protection and physical security. Participating in special studies and emergency drill evaluations to develop and revise biological physical security policies and procedures for an organization. Experience handling emergency security procedures employed in biological accidents or incidents at a biological lab. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (DE-02/GS-11). Education FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
