A Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) works under the supervision of licensed physical therapists (PTs) to provide hands-on care to patients. Their role is critical in helping patients recover from injuries, illnesses, or surgeries that affect mobility and physical function. Below are the primary responsibilities of PTAs in a hospital setting:
The Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) is responsible for the implementation of treatment programs for referred patients as developed by the Physical Therapist (PT).Helping patients with mobility training, such as walking with assistive devices (e.g., crutches, walkers, or canes).Applying therapeutic modalities, such as heat packs, cold therapy, ultrasound, or electrical stimulation, to reduce pain or improve circulation and healing.The PTA contributes to the development and the upgrading of treatment programs and protocols.Monitoring ProgressPatient and Family EducationCollaborating with the Healthcare TeamThe PTA also contributes to the development and completion of departmental and organizational goals and objectives.Requirements:
