The Department of Physical Therapy at the University of Miami is currently seeking a full time Physical Therapist II - Lymphedema to work in Miami, FL. The Physical Therapist II provides effective and efficient rehabilitation services to patients and clients in accordance with the APTA guidelines for physical therapy. The Physical Therapist II collaborates with healthcare teams that include physicians, occupational therapists, and psychologists.
CORE JOB FUNCTIONS
Performs evaluations of new patients to include the establishment of goals and appropriate treatment plans.
Progresses patients through different levels of treatment within the patient’s maximum capabilities.
Documents all evaluations, treatments, and other pertinent patient interactions.
Provides relevant education to patients and families regarding medical conditions.
Maintains effective communication with all members of the rehabilitation team.
Communicates with physicians and their staff to obtain additional information and suggests revisions in treatment.
Participates in quality and safety improvement activities.
Orients, instructs, and directs work activities for assistants and support personnel.
Supervises and instructs physical therapy students according to professional guidelines.
Provides or participates in educational programs for staff, patients, and the community at large.
Represents the University at non-departmental conferences and seminars.
Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

Board Certification through the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialists (ABPTS) or specialty certification through an approved program
Track record of presenting educational material – 5 internal presentations to a physical therapy or rehabilitation department
Classroom support activity or student instruction, community outreach, research project participation, leadership service or program development

Functions:
Utilizes treatment tools and equipment in a safe and effective manner.
Walker, crutches, cane, wheelchair, lift equipment, hospital beds, commodes, goniometer, traction units, ultrasound machine, electrical stimulation machines, iontophoresis, vasopneumatic pump, cuff weights, pulley weights, isokinetic exercise equipment, and general office equipment (telephone, computer, facsimile machine, and copier).
Maintains a satisfactory level of productivity and demonstrates willingness to adjust personal schedule in case of crisis or real clinic need.
Participates in program development in specialty area to equip the team in meeting departmental and organizational service needs.
Attends and participates in Grand Rounds to represent the Department of Physical Therapy and acquire information from our larger medical community to disseminate relevant information for staff development and service delivery.
