Physical Therapy Assistant
**Employment Type:** Part time **Shift:** Weekend Shift **Description:** Seeking PTA to work primarily weekends and cover vacations on inpatient rehab unit. May also cover acute care as needed when census or staffing requires. **Position Summary:** The Rehabilitation Services Physical Therapist Assistant provides treatment of patients in a range of specialty programs, as directed by a Physical Therapist. **Essential Functions and Responsibilities** + Consults with the primary Physical Therapist to implement and progress the patient plan of care. + Gathers data on patient status to assist the Physical Therapist in monitoring patient progress and response to treatment. + Following the plan of care established by the primary physical therapist, consults with other team members to address the needs and capabilities of the patient. + Coordinates with primary physical therapist to ensure timely re-evaluations are completed. + Implements patient care in a manner consistent with the therapy goals, treatment protocols available, APTA standards, and the changing needs of the patient, using a variety of therapeutic approaches. + Completes daily charges for each patient while adhering to ethical practices per insurance guidelines for each payer. + Provides thorough documentation on each patient interaction. Documentation must be timely and include all pertinent information required by state law, accrediting agencies and 3rd party payers. + Stays up to date on all participating insurance guidelines for rehabilitation services. + Orients patients and families to the therapeutic purposes and procedures of physical therapy and educates on home programs, impairments, progress, and discharge plans. + Provides for own professional growth and education and contributes to staff development activities. + Participates in supervision of PTA student affiliations as assigned by the Clinical Coordinator, Student Program Coordinator or student’s Clinical Instructor. + Works with site leader and secretarial staff to ensure schedules are managed well to achieve targeted productivity and clinic budget. **Other Functions and Responsibilities** _Performs other duties as assigned._ **Required Education, Experience and Certification/Licensure** Completion of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant training program.
