Physical Therapy Assistant - Inpatient
Description: Job Summary:
Assists the Registered Physical Therapist in the execution of patient treatment care as established by the physical therapist. Assists with the training of other health care providers as directed.

Essential Responsibilities:

Interprets and administers patient treatment care as established by the Registered Physical Therapist using modalities and therapeutic exercises.
Directs patients to treatment areas, assists patients in preparation for treatment by undressing and dressing and by removal of wound dressing, braces, splints and other limb support.
Observes and documents treatment patients given.
Reports any unusual patient reactions to Registered Physical Therapist.
Ensures cleanliness of assigned areas and proper functioning of patient care equipment by visual inspection and routine testing, reports any problems to Registered Physical Therapist.
Performs clerical and other related functions such as posting treatments given, completing CPRs filing patient progress sheets and answering phones.
Assists with the training of Physical Therapy Assistant Students, Physical Therapy Aides and other health care professionals, may assist Registered Physical Therapist with in-service training programs and patient care classes as required.
Assists in maintaining cleanliness, readiness and safe operation condition of treatment areas and modalities.
Establishes and maintains courteous, cooperative relations with the public, patients, and other personnel.
Promotes, ensures, and improves customer service to internal/external customers by demonstrating skills which are consistent with the organizations philosophy of providing extraordinary customer relations and quality service. Basic Qualifications:
Experience

N/A

Education

Graduate of an accredited PTA Program with an Associate of Science Degree in PTA or Cal Exam. Co. oOr equivalent.

License, Certification, Registration

Physical Therapist Assistant Certificate (California)


Basic Life Support

Additional Requirements:

Ability to support 200 plus pounds as needed, able to bend and stoop 20% of work day.

Preferred Qualifications:

One (1) year full-time or equivalent part-time experience in both inpatient and outpatient setting preferred.
