Job Description
Completes curriculum requirements for the purpose of advancing ability to provide specialty care in the areas of pediatric or sport physical therapy. Pursues opportunities for ongoing clinical supervision and mentoring with a theoretical basis for advanced practice and scientific inquiry. Prepares for examination and procures pediatric or sports clinical specialist certification. Provides the highest quality age-appropriate care for patients within the scope of practice and established standards for physical therapy. Functions effectively as a member of the rehabilitation team and supports the mission of Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. Proactively supports efforts that ensure delivery of safe patient care and services and promote a safe environment at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.Experience

Preferred Qualifications
•1 year of experience in pediatrics or sports physical therapy with knowledge of pediatric or sports theory and practice
Education
•Master's degree in Physical Therapy from accredited school
Certification Summary
•Georgia physical therapy license or proof of application
•Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of employment
•Sports Residency ONLY: Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC), Certified Emergency Medical Responder (EMR), or licensed emergency medical technician
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
•Excellent oral and written communication skills for effective communication of information
•Positive interpersonal skills and ability to function in an interdisciplinary environment
•Travel to other Children's Healthcare of Atlanta locations based on patient census, program development, and/or contract obligations with physician practices
Job Responsibilities
1.Evaluates patients, meeting established standards.
2.Plans and implements effective and appropriate treatment so that functional outcomes are achieved.
3.Completes documentation, meeting departmental standards for content, accuracy, and timeliness.
4.Includes family/caregiver in patient care and provides effective education appropriate for learning needs of patient and family.
5.Demonstrates competencies that incorporate age-specific guidelines, including N = Neonate (less than 30 days), I = Infant (30 days to 1 year), EC = Early Childhood (1-5 years), LC = Late Childhood (5-13 years), A = Adolescent (13-17 years), AD = Adult, and ALL = all ages.
6.Participates in didactic and clinical experiences as outlined in physical therapy residency curriculum.
7.Completes all required areas of physical therapy residency program at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.
8.Completes program and instructor evaluations.
9.Contributes to resources, body of knowledge, and evidence in departments of rotation as requested by instructor.
10.Promotes excellence in pediatric or sports physical therapy practice through scientific inquiry, investigation, and application of knowledge in clinical setting.
11.Promotes excellence in service delivery at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta by providing formal and informal opportunities for learning to colleagues.
12.Completes application and requirements to obtain certification as a pediatric or sports clinical specialist.
13.Participates in maintaining and monitoring the work environment to ensure a continual state of Joint Commission readiness.
